Servers & Storage

A server is nothing more than a computer hardware system operating to run one or more services or basically a computer programme running to serve the requests of other programs aka the “clients”. Compiling information data from a series of computers through one network including file sharing.

A Network Attached Storage (NAS) device is essentially a dedicated file-sharing system. It provides additional disk storage space and allows multiple computers on the same network to access and share files, gather information, and store data centrally.

Windows Storage Server 2012 is an example of a networked storage solution. It can help reduce storage costs while providing high reliability, making it suitable for demanding tasks such as database storage.

There are many types of servers, ranging from application servers to web servers. A web server (HTTP) delivers web content and information that can be accessed via the internet.

Other servers include:

  • Communications Server
  • Database Server
  • Fax Server
  • Email Server
  • File Server
  • Name Server
  • Proxy Server
  • Audio Server
